What Ohio University’s Vincent Nicolella is Listening To
Whether he’s getting ready for a big game or cruising around in his car, Ohio University student, Vincent Nicolella, knows what kind of music to listen to. The Bobcat hockey team’s forward picked ten of his favorite songs, both old and new, that he listens to on and off the ice. Check out his picks below.
1. “Last Dance With Mary Jane” by Tom Petty
Vincent: “In my opinion it’s one of the greatest songs out there. I grew up listening to Tom Petty and it’s what my dad always had on during long car rides to hockey tournaments or going to the beach for vacation.”
2. “Can’t Stop” by Red Hot Chili Peppers
Vincent: “I listen to this song before every game. It’s got a great beat and it gets me focused and pumped before I hit the ice.”
3. “Really, Really” by Kevin Gates
Vincent: “I recently just found this song and I love it. So as of right now, it’s one of my favorite songs.”
4. “Everlong” by Foo Fighters
Vincent: “I really enjoy the Foo Fighters guitar playing. I envy their skills. I tend to listen to them in the weight room mostly.”
5. “#41” by Dave Matthews Band
Vincent: “DMB has a lot of great songs but #41 is probably my favorite. They’re my favorite band live because there’s so much talent amongst the members.”
6. “With Arms Wide Open” by Creed.
Vincent: “This song is a classic. I wish Creed was still together. My roommates and I listen to this song before we go out (kind of as a joke) but we love it.”
7. “That Was a Crazy Game of Poker” by OAR
Vincent: “I also grew up to this song. It reminds me of my parents and every time I hear it I always think of them. Thanks mom and dad!”
8. “Ocean” by John Butler Trio
Vincent: “My roommate introduced me to this song and I instantly fell in love. That is all.”
9. “Ridin Around” by Kali Uchis
Vincent: “This is one of my favorite songs to listen to while I drive (get it, riding around?) but really it’s got a great beat and I find myself listening to it a lot, especially when the weather is nice.”
10. “Cut It” by OT Genasis
Vincent: “I was listening to this song with my teammates in the locker room and we started dancing and singing along to the chorus. It’s kind of a joke now when we play it, but it’s pretty funny.”
Nicolella is definitely not the type to stick to one genre. The man has diverse taste. Not often do Tom Petty and Kali Uchis make the same playlist, but when they do it’s a beautiful thing. Also, anyone who can still get down to Creed is to be treated with respect. To listen to these songs and even more awesome music, download the Trebel app.
