The 10 Best Taylor Swift Songs Ever
Taylor Swift is the kind of artist that has a special place in all of our hearts. The songstress achieved what most only dream of when she crossed over from Country to Pop. Her latest album, 1989, has cemented her place in music history, as if she needed help. With so many great songs, and amazing lyrics, it’s hard to narrow it down to even 20 of her best! Thanks to the help of some loyal “Swifties,” here are the 10 best (in no particular order, of course!) Taylor Swift songs ever!
1. “Blank Space” – 1989
Swift made history as the first woman to take over her own number on spot on Billboard’s Hot 100 in the list’s 56 year existence when “Blank Space” (Cowritten with famous producer and songwriter Max Martin) took over for “Shake It Off.”
Lyric: “Screaming, crying, perfect storm / I can make all the tables turn”
2. “Style” – 1989
Many have praised the sensual song, also cowritten with Martin, as the top track of 1989.
Lyric: “I should tell you to leave ’cause I / Know exactly where it leads but I / Watch us go ’round and ’round each time”
3. “Ours” – Speak Now
Lyric: “And any snide remarks from my father about your tattoos will be ignored / ‘Cause my heart is yours”
4. “Safe & Sound” (featuring The Civil Wars) – The Hunger Games: Songs From District 12 And Beyond
Lyric: “Don’t you dare look out your window darling / Everything’s on fire / The war outside our door keeps raging on / Hold onto this lullaby / Even when the music’s gone”
5. “Red” – Red
Lyric: “Losing him was blue like I’d never known / Missing him was dark grey all alone / Forgetting him was like trying to know somebody you never met / But loving him was red”
6. “Our Song” – Taylor Swift
This song soared to number one on Billboard Hot Country Songs and stayed there for six weeks. It marked Swift’s first number one on that chart and made her the youngest (at just 18) sole singer-songwriter to hit that mark.
Lyric: “Our song is the way he laughs, the first date / Man, I didn’t kiss him and I should have”
7. “Love Story” – Fearless
Written by Swift, and produced by Nathan Chapman (who Swift has worked with on every album she’s released), the song became Swift’s first number one on Billboard Pop Songs. Which made it the highest charted crossover since Shania Twain’s “You’re Still the One” which peaked at three in 1998. The album also made Swift the youngest person to win the Grammy for Album of the Year.
Lyric: “This love is difficult, but it’s real / Don’t be afraid we’ll make it out of this mess”
8. “All Too Well” – Red
Lyric: “And, maybe we got lost in translation, maybe I asked for too much / But maybe this thing was a masterpiece ‘til you tore it all up / Running scared, I was there, I remember it all too well”
9. “Everything Has Changed” (Featuring Ed Sheeran) – Red
Lyric: “‘Cause all I know is we said hello / And your eyes look like coming home / All I know is a simple name, everything has changed”
10. “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” – Red
Cowritten with Max Martin, this song claimed the top spot on iTunes charts within 50 minutes of it’s release. It earned Swift a spot in The Guinness Book of World Records in 2013 as the fastest-selling digital single (623,000) of all time. The song surpassed Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way” (448,000) and Adele holds the current record with “Hello” (1,112,000).
Lyric: “Remember how that lasted for a day? / I say, ‘I hate you,’ we break up, you call me, ‘I love you.'”
You didn’t really think I could keep it to just 10, did you?
“Better Than Revenge” – Speak Now
Lyric: “I never saw it coming, wouldn’t have suspected it / I underestimated just who I was dealing with / She had to know the pain was beating on me like a drum / She underestimated just who she was stealing from”
“Enchanted” – Speak Now
Ed Sheeran has no problem admitting this fan favorite is his favorite Swift song.
Lyric: “Walls of insecurity / Shifting eyes and vacancy / Vanished when I saw your face”
“Should’ve Said No” – Taylor Swift
Lyric: “Yesterday I found out about you / Even now just looking at you / Feels wrong”
“Mean” – Speak Now
Is this what a Taylor Swift musical would look like? Maybe we’ll find out some day!
Lyric: “Somebody made you cold but the cycle ends right now / ‘Cause you can’t lead me down that road”
