Welcome to Atlanta. Whether or not you agree with the moniker “Hip-Hop Capital of the World” or “Hollywood of the South,” ATL has been been a steady presence in the entertainment world.

While many different genres and sub genres have a place inside the city, still the local music scene reigns as a haven for hip-hop artists. The scene ranges from mixtapes handed out on street corners to big names still keeping their city as their touchstone. (Future, 2 Chainz, Andre 3000, Childish Gambino, Killer Mike, Rae Sremmurd and more.)

Even if you’ve never personally traveled down South, most music made famous in Atlanta will end up at the club or house party you’re at no matter where in the country you are. Every few months or so, a selection of the same songs become the unspoken required playlist at functions across the city.

Enter the party. Here lies a snapshot of the music most likely on the playlist for the night. Warning: Future reigns supreme, and in all honesty should be on the list at least five more times.

“Best Friend” by Young Thug

If Atlanta was a high school, Young Thug would be the cool kid just strange and blasé enough to garner the title without contest. While many Young Thug songs are bumped every weekend, “Best Friend” is the biggest crowd-pleaser.

“F*** Up Some Commas” by Future

It’s a rare night out in Atlanta without Future making an appearance.

“Swag Surfin’ ” by F.L.Y. (Fast Life Yungstaz)

You might not know the dance when it begins, but you will by the time the song is done.

“Look At My Dab (B**** Dab)” by Migos

We created the dab, we get to make songs about it.

“Walked In” by Bankroll Fresh (feat. Travis Porter & Boochie)

“Look at Wrist by Father” (feat. iLoveMakonnen & Key!)

While most heavily played the summer of ’14, “Look at Wrist” is the mellowed track every rap banger in the city knows by now.

“White Iverson” by Post Malone

No matter how seriously you take it, attempt to listen to this song and not get at least a portion of it stuck in your head.

“Big Rings” by Drake & Future

Anything from Future’s discography is bound to get played, sometimes maybe it feels like the entirety of it gets played in a night. At the very least, something from Future’s collab with Drake will be getting played.
