Is DJ Khaled The Unofficial King of Collaboration?
Getting several multi-platinum selling artists all on one track isn’t easy work. In fact, there is so much red tape when it comes to collaboration that many artists just avoid it all together. But if you’re DJ Khaled, getting superstars to check their ego’s at the door and collaborate on tracks is just a regular day. The Miami native may have garnered a reputation for being a SnapChat aficionado, but his truest talent is his ability to get artists to collaborate.
Could it be his Khaled-isms or his love for flowers and filters? Who knows? But given the very sporadic details of his new album Grateful one thing for sure is this album is star studded to say the least. In fact, there’s so much star power on his album, it’s almost a wonder how he’s going to give everyone an appropriate verse. On one track alone it looks like DJ Khaled has somehow gotten Justin Bieber, Chance the Rapper, Migos and Lil Wayne to collaborate:
Just to put into perspective, none of these artists have previously put out any music together (with the exception of Chance and Lil Wayne). Even so, this will be the first time they all collaborate. There’s really no telling what tricks DJ Khaled has up his sleeve for Grateful. His lead single “Shining” features both Jay Z and Beyonce. Usually the word “feature” and “Jay Z” or “Beyonce” don’t go hand in hand. They don’t do many features. To collectively work on a song that’s technically a part of DJ Khaled’s catalog, he’s clearly a very convincing man.
Based off of his Instagram photos and online teasers Khlaed will have at least 10 different artists on his new album. Each one more famous than the next. We may not know much about Grateful but I’m positive once it’s released we will never forget.
