Fifth Harmony Member Camila Cabello Calls it Quits
As the year comes to a close, music fans get hit with another shocker as lead singer Camila Cabello of Fifth Harmony quits the group. The news came as a surprise to fans as this is on the heels of the groups Jingle Ball performance where they seemingly looked to be on the same page. Rumblings of group dysfunction have always followed Fifth Harmony. Questions about their authenticity and chemistry with one another were topics of conversation, stemming from numerous occasions where the girls didn’t look in sync or even happy at times. In fact, the girls themselves have hinted before in an interview back in 2015 that the band wouldn’t last forever.

Another instance Camila told Latina Magazine herself, being in Fifth Harmony wasn’t ideal:
“We’d be lying if we all said this is a picture-perfect thing, like we all completely agreed on the album track list and what the sound and the music video treatment would be like, which usually happens in bands who grew up together. But for manufactured bands, it’s harder.”
The remaining members, Ally Brooke, Normani Kordei, Dinah Jane Hansen and Lauren Jauregui, agreed they will continue the group as a foursome and took to their social media to announce and awkwardly admit they heard about Camila’s departure through her representatives:

While it may have come as a shock to us all, it looks like there may not be any love lost between the girls as it seems everyone is ready to move on. As far as Camila’s career, she’s already collaborated with Cleveland rapper Machine Gun Kelly on “Bad Things” (which you can download for free in the link at the bottom) and Canadian singing sensation Shawn Mendes with their radio hit “I Know What You Did Last Summer.” It will be interesting to see if Camila’s departure will make the group a tighter unit or serve inversely by giving other group mates the inspiration to kick start their own solo careers. Either way, harmonizers stay tuned because 2017 should be a breakout year for all the girls.
