3 Artists Poised to Go Mainstream In 2017
We’re a little over a month before 2016 is in the history books. The past year has given us a slew of songs that coudl easily top the “best of” lists for the last decade. Artists such as Lady Gaga, The Weeknd, Luke Bryan, Adele, Sam Smith have not only taken over the airwaves, but my iTunes library as well (which I can synch with the free downloads in my Trebel Music library as well).
As every calendar year changes it is quite difficult to pinpoint how the world of music will be in the future. Will an underrated genre sweep the world off its feet in the same manner that EDM did in 2012? Will an artist that many love finally reemerge from hiatus? What songs/albums from this year are we expecting to take home all the accolades once award season begins?
While I am not the type of individual that wants to rush time for the sake of pleasure, it never hurts to have high hopes for a future within reach. Here are three artists to keep attentive eyes (and ears) on in 2017.
DNCE is an American band mixed with a bit of dance-rock and unique funk pop flare. The band was formed in 2015 with members including Jack Lawless, JinJoo Lee, Cole Whittle, and a familiar guy you may know of — Joe Jonas of the Jonas Brothers. While some may think that the band has received a head-start because of Jonas, they are actually more underrated than I expected they would be. In 2015 the band released their debut single “Cake by the Ocean” and it took a humble place on the top 10 of Billboard’s Hot 100 chart. Just last week the band released their self-titled debut album and I must admit… the more I listen to their album, the more I just want to drop all of my work and go have fun!
In 2016, the band won Best New Artist from the iconic MTV Video Music Awards and Best Push Act in MTV Europe’s Music Awards. It is being reported that the band will be up for nomination during the People’s Choice Awards in 2017. I believe that they have a great shot at winning this award for the first time.
2) Hailee Steinfeld
Hailee Steinfeld is one of those special pop artists that you may doubt in the beginning, but definitely give a chance. With an extensive resume when it comes to being in major movies, short films, and TV shows, I predict that Hailee will have a breakout year in 2017. Currently Hailee is on tour and if you would like to see the remainder of her dates for this year, visit her website for the entire list.
When I absolutely love a band such as Misterwives, I do my best to persuade my friends and everyone around me to follow suit. Call it political tactics; I call it sharing happiness with those around me! Misterwives is an indie pop/alternative dance band that hails from NYC. The band released their studio album Our Own House in 2015 and is currently prepping for their own tour in 2017. I know for certain there is one date that I can definitely make and if I need to schedule an alternative city, then so be it.
